Brett Gelman is widely known for his fan-favorite role as Murray Bauman, an eclectic conspiracy theorist, on Netflix's hit series "Stranger Things", which broke viewership records following its release. Gelman was upped to season regular for "Stranger Things" season 4 which premiered in May 2022 on Netflix and earned 7 Emmy nominations including Outstanding Drama Series. Also on Netflix, Brett can be seen in "Lyle, Lyle Crocodile" from Sony opposite Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, and Scoot McNairy.

Brett also plays Martin, the deliciously loathsome brother-in-law to Phoebe Waller-Bridge's titular "Fleabag" in the critically acclaimed Amazon series that swept award season winning the Best Comedy Series category at the Emmys, Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and SAG Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

He will soon be seen starring in the gothic horror-comedy "Entitled", a new comedy series he also co-executive produced along with Two Brothers Pictures ("Fleabag"). He plays a disgraced American plastic surgeon and widower, who must get to know The Beaucrofts, his British wife’s eccentric estranged family, in their aristocratic mansion in the English countryside. He will also be seen in Apple TV’s limited series adaptation of Laura Lipman’s book, "Lady in the Lake", created by Alma Har’el, in which he stars opposite Natalie Portman, and the upcoming feature "Boy Kills World", produced by Sam Raimi and Roy Lee, an action-thriller scheduled to premiere at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival.

Past television credits include the third season of David E. Kelley’s critically acclaimed Audience Network show, "Mr. Mercedes", opposite Brendan Gleeson and Holland Taylor. He can also be seen in Judd Apatow's critically acclaimed series, "Love", HBO’s "Camping" opposite Jennifer Garner, David Tennant, and Juliette Lewis, and in the relaunch of David Lynch’s masterpiece, "Twin Peaks: The Return", on Showtime.

Brett also starred in "Lemon", which he also co-wrote with director Janicza Bravo. The film premiered to rave reviews at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. He can previously be seen in the independent films DRIB directed by Kristoffer Borgli, and "Wild Nights With Emily" opposite Molly Shannon as well as studio comedies "The Other Guys" (Sony/Columbia), "Strays" (Universal), and "30 Minutes or Less" (Sony/Columbia). Other notable credits include the FX comedy "Married" opposite Nat Faxon and Judy Greer, Comedy Central’s "Another Period", Starz’s "Blunt Talk" opposite Patrick Stewart, and NBC’s "Go On" opposite Matthew Perry.

Brett also starred in and co-wrote his trilogy of "Dinner with Brett Gelman" specials on Adult Swim along with director Jason Woliner, which featured such actors as Patti LuPone, Tony Roberts, Loretta DeVine, Lance Reddick and Gilbert Godfried. Brett also presented his one-man musical, "One Thousand Cats", on HBO as part of the anthology series, "Funny or Die Presents".

Since Variety named him one of its “10 Comics to Watch” in 2010, Brett Gelman has shown film, TV, web and live audiences how he commits to every role with a signature intensity and fearlessness that continues to earn praise from critics and peers alike. Brett is a long-time company member of The Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and has a BFA from North Carolina School of the Arts.
